UX Research and Design

OVERVIEW

As a total space nerd, I couldn’t have been happier to spend my summer at JPL — what’s better than doing UX research while also absorbing all the space knowledge and celebrating the 50th year anniversary of Apollo 11 lunar landing?

As the first UX Research intern at EBIS (Enterprise Business Information Services) division, I was responsible in conducting qualitative user research on a new design system that will better facilitate the overall consistency and best practices amongst the web development teams within EBIS. Besides generating actionable research insights, I also had the opportunity to create several web interface prototypes to explore different design patterns.

Impact

Both my research and design artifacts contributed to the FY 20 product development roadmap; this is still an ongoing project. When successfully implemented, the design system will save time in web developing teams’ product cycle, enhance workflows and productivity, and create more cohesion throughout the designs across EBIS.

Read below for a glimpse of my research and design processes, as well as some design artifacts. Feel free to drop me a note if you would like to learn more about this project.
