Swayambhunath

Today I walked to Swayambhunath, the monkey temple, and found a nice viewpoint to sketch. Although never formally trained to sketch aside from drawing lessons that I had taken when I was little, I wanted to integrate sketching into my journey more, not only as a way to capture the surroundings and the feelings that I had in the particular moment besides my camera, but also as a way to be more intentional about slowing down my pace, to be more observant of fine details in places, and to be more present in the moment. The flow that I have been enjoying from sketching has been rewarding thus far; I felt more present in the space and time, and my external stress removed. I hope to learn more techniques from fellow landscape architecture students.
